I just tried this out for myself by creating a review...
Here, and had the same thing happen with the review count staying at 0. I think for it to change, someone else has to post a reply to your review. For the picture, there should have been several boxes with a button to click to upload a file from your computer. If you selected a file but the picture didn't appear, the file may have been too large.
