Can't you call 911 and tell them your friend is acting dangerously and you think he is suicidal? They will send police to his house to interview him and take him into the hospital if he is drunk and confused or worse.
It's better then you trying to help him yourself and getting hurt again. I don't think there is anything you can do for him hun. You have to let professionals take care of it from here.
He will be angry with you of course. But when he is healthy again he will get over it and may thank you.
