I second what fuzzy said. I would like to add that if you feel bad for what you said you can appologize to her. In doing so it will help open up the communication between you and her. It is possible she was having a bad day. If you apologize for your reaction to her message she may apologize for speaking to you as she did in her message. I am not saying to apologize for your feelings, just how you expressed them.
As far as cutting being the only way to fix things...Cutting is like alcohol. It is a temporary fix because it makes you feel better for a moment but what you were trying to escape from doesn't just go away. You will still have to face it. I hope you can find an aternative escape that will help to build your self esteem so you can face your difficulties easier.
