We had a loved who was nearly doctored2death (c) and we believe it was because the patient had 100% insurance coverage. This incarceration in the hospital has caused the patient to REFUSE to go to the hospital or be treated by a doctor, at the risk of causing further health problems.
Mentally, they feel as if going to a hospital or doctor will be the kiss of death for them.
I can't really blame them. Their incarceration in this hospital was like torture. I don't think they will ever recover emotionally. Nor will the patient's wife of 47 years. She was held hostage because she feared leaving his side for even a minute.
What we feel on a daily basis, and who we are, is greatly influenced by environmental factors.
it is easier to lose control of ourselves mentally and physically because of these environmental influences than it is to keep things in control.
If we all spent as much time thinking positive as negative - I wonder if we could get a better handle on our psyche's and be able to handle the daily barrage of emotional trauma that comes our way due to circumstances beyond our control.
PTSD is not just a symptom of having been on the battlefields of a war - even the little battles we face everyday can build up to trauma.
