I used to go to a NAMI support group for Depression and Bi-Polar Disorder. It was okay and I enjoyed it for the little while I went. It was such a large group that each person only had about a minute (literally) to share. They had guidelines about cross-talk so we couldn't really communicate with each other until the end of the group if we wanted to stay over to do so.
I stopped going when a couple of the Bi-Polar patients became manic and started exhibiting behavior in the group that was scaring me and making me uncomfortable. My father was Bi-Polar, among other things, and those hyper-manic mannerisms and behaviors are a real trigger for me.
Otherwise, I think it was a good group.
