I've had a really good experience using Vistaril. I was originally on Xanax for anxiety, but it knocked me out -- even at times when it didn't produce immediate fatigue, I would still have this sort of fog (like alcohol gives you). Vistaril is completely different for me, in that I feel calm, yet aware/conscious of my surroundings. When I get the kind of anxiety where I don't want to leave the house, Vistaril is amazing, it honestly feels like I'm floating, utterly serene. Of course, all benzo's have fatigue as a side effect, and my dr told me that even though Vistaril is an anti-histamine, it is also classified as a benzo (since it alters the effect of GABA in the GABA-Benzodiazepine System). Vistaril makes me tired the next day, but the amount of fatigue diminishes after the first or second week. Also, using it fairly consistently will help w/ the fatigue aspect (and by consistent, I mean don't do what I did, waiting over a month to take it again ). Good luck!
