I decided to go to the service yesterday with my 2 daughters. It was sad, but I have to say it was the coolest service I've ever been to. Who would think a funeral service could be cool. He was a man who enjoyed life with cars, boats and motorcycles. His family focused on the service being a celebration of his life. The church is modern minded so there was a stage with 3 huge screens so everyone could see. There was a band that played modern Christian music and there's was even an electric guitar lol. A midst the celebration there were plenty of tears. His 2 oldest daughters were even brave enough to say a speech. His oldest who'll be 16 this year spoke about fun times but then her speech talked about "how he'll never teach her how to drive, see her graduate or walk her down the isle" - everyone was crying when she said that.

I feel it was very generous of his family to make the funeral service open to the public. They could have specified a private funeral. Steve Yzerman said Bob never turned an autograph down, even if it meant standing for 2 hours. He said he was devoted to his fans that way, because when he was a boy some sports guy walked away, when he wanted an autograph. They out-fitted a motor cycle with a side carrier and strapped the motor cycle on the side. He was definitely a cool dude and he went out 'in style' for sure. Thanks TrinityDancer for listening and letting me share all this. I pray God gives his family strength.
