I opened up my house to a person like that when I was living with my husband in California. I had been in the medical hospital with anorexia problems & the lady in my hospital room had a son that needed a room to live in.......what a fool I was thinking he would be ok. Ended up being a drug adict too. Stole several pieces of jewelry. When the guy was out of the house, my husand went through a suitcase & found his seiko watch...he didn't look for anything else that ended up missing...along with many of my meds. The final straw was that we had told him that all automobiles were off limits & he stole my husband's truck & took off with it. When we realized it was missing, we called the police. They said that if we called it in stolen & they caught the guy, they would shoot to kill if he caused any problems....I said "go ahead". He ended up recking the truck out in the desert somewhere....can't even remember now, but that was an immediate kick out of the house.....he never caused us any problems with kicking him out. The police were after him for many other things it seems as he ended up having some mail sent to our house....
I wasn't so quick to let anyone stay in my house after that point....learned the hard way also.
Glad this has worked out well for you in the end. Somehow I missed reading the last few posts before I wrote my initial reply (before editing...lol).
Wonderful to have your apartment back to yourself.....no one enteres through the door other than you & your closest friends from now on.....I'm sure of that after all of this.
Job well done in getting the right ammunition to protect yourself....good work
