I've just been diagnosed myself at age 40. They started me on a free trial of Vyvanse, but I can't stay with it because of the cost. I feel more awake during the day and definitely not hungry, but even more spacey. And definitely more depressed, can't tell if it's the meds or the fact that I have ADD and my job prospects are even more limited.
