No worried I understand what you mean. It's different depending on the person and how the therapist works. What you can hope for is a more competent feeling inside, less fear, and a sense of understanding and co operation within.
My t doesn't believe in "making us one" because some inside would see that as threatening. His focus is to help us navigate this wierdness with more understanding of why this happened and how to cope with switches and triggers. He told me "these "alters" have helped you survive...so some day maybe you can see these aspects of you as friends". That helped me a lot.
