DBT is not only for the rich! I am surprised you can't find a Phd, MD, LCSW or anyone willing to just call it Therapy. That is what it is and the insurance companies don't need to know exactly what type of therapy it is. The only reason they want to know is so they can turn you down for coverage. My Dr's just called it my diagnosis number and let it go at that. It was always covered and neither of us gave it a 2nd thought.

The other people's ideas were great too. If you do go online for the DBT, be ready for some trendy terminology. It is much, much simpler. I have gone thru the T and am in the best shape of my life. Anyway, I am an emotional person and therfore I often look at life and make decisions using my emotional side. Same is true for my logical side. But those 2 ways are not balanced thinking. So DBT brings your emotional mind to your logical mind to make a 3rd mindset. Your Wise Mind. It helps you STOP reacting or talking or whatever before you blow it. During those few seconds you put your thoughts in order making a wise choice. But for it to work you must WANT it to work and Be Ready to Accept the Changes. But if and when you do, it is wonderful. Good Luck. I hope this helps.
