I agree with cass, don't be so self judgemental. Care a little for yourself and you may find that you don't choose men who you know will not be available to you.

There are people who become obssessed with those they know will reject them because it keeps them safe from actually having to have a relationship and so saves them from the ultimate pain.

I agree too with your pdoc to stay away form him and his mates so that you are not placed into a situation which is harmful to you. You would do better to build up your personal strength and work on yourself rather than give yourself to a situation that would hurt you...you deserve better,
