I do this as well. Like Amanda, I count the number of times I blink and have to reach a certain number and then because I have started this cycle of counting the blinks, I have to start over and count the blinks again and again always to that number. It only ends when I finally can force myself to focus on something else and then I can end this cycle. I do the same thing with counting cars, trees and anything else I pass when driving and likewise, I get into the cycle of having to repeat the counting after reaching the ideal number (always four) until I can break the cycle. It is normally not easy to do. I used to count my breathing but I have managed to stop that cycle. OCD is a living nightmare. The only thing I can tell you as to how to control this particular obsessive behavior is when you start blinking repeatedly, try to think about something unrelated that can get your mind off of blinking and allow you to maintain some sanity. I hope you can find some relief.
