You are not wrong for posting the question, it is just shocking/sad that you don't understand.
It's all to do with
feelings. We feel great empathy, understanding, feel very sad when someone else is seriously hurt or dies. Especially towards children that have only just started life and the life is lost.
If you are truly saying that you feel nothing when seeing these awful things then that points to the question of why you feel nothing.
