I filled out the on-line application for employment insurance at service Canada today. But I'm worried. It said on the site that you have to file for employement insurance within 4 weeks of being let go or your application could be denied. I thought you had to have your Record of Employement (ROE) to apply so I'd been waiting. I e-mailed my old employer today about getting the ROE issued. It's just one more piece of stress I didn't need. Of course i won't be eligible for benefits until January, after my severance runs out, but I want to make sure I have the benefits in place, in the unlikely event that I don't find a job before then.

This is all new to me, and really complicated - I really hope I don't have to file an appeal just because I was a little late filling the initial application.
