Woohoo! I have lost a total of 15 lbs. and it feels great. Since my diagnosis I gained over 50 lbs. from med side effects and I have felt very uncomfortable in my own skin. I feel I'm finally getting back to feeling comfortable with my body. I understand that my mental health is more important than my physical health, BUT I really wished my p-doc was more upfront with the possible side effects and I had asked for a med change sooner.
One of many things I have learned from this weight gain is to be more empathetic to others who are struggling with a weight issue. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I used to judge others that were overweight and would think "why don't they just eat less and exercise". Yes I know very ignorant, but I have learned a valuable lesson because no matter how much I exercised, ate properly the weight wouldn't budge until I had a med change.
