I can't imagine how heartbreaking it must be to have a child taken away but it really is incredible how, instead of staying stuck in that sadness, you have created a plan for yourself to prevent that from happening again.
Journaling is such a good resource in so many ways, including being theraputic in and of itself, but using it to recognize one's own behavior and mood patterns is a very good way to protect oneself.
