The MMPI is a really long, tangled test, no way you can tell what is going on or "fake" it; it won't say you are lying or making things up in the way you mean, it's not about your exact life story.

It will ask you the "same" question but word it 3, 4, 5+ different ways (you will get bored and sick of the questions, it's so long and "easy" and it will make you feel like you're going in circles :-) What it calls lying isn't what you would think; it will ask you things like "I never tell a lie" (and I use to believe I never did so answered, "yes") but everyone tells a lie some time in their life so it's just figuring out what you really believe (I'm not "bad" for believing I never lied), it just tells about the type of thinking you have/do, how you approach the world; it's about your thinking, not what you think. But the questions are exact statements ("I loved my father" (I had trouble with that one because my father was still alive and it was in past tense! What am I supposed to do with that? LOL). But then later it might say, "My father was someone I truly loved" and it will be a long time later so you won't really remember how they asked it the last time and you might think of a different experience and answer "yes" to one and "no" to the other and that will mean something. So that's a couple of ways you would be "lying", if you answered a lot of certain questions in a mixed way (but no way can you figure out which ones, they're not obvious, the "I never lie" question wasn't really about lying! It's about how rigid or judgmental I am) or "yes" to questions that were "impossible" like never/always.

They don't really tell you the results (they're very long and complicated too :-) it's like one of those standardized tests you take in school that gets sent away and you never hear anything about it because it's just the politicians doing their thing? You don't pass or fail or get a good versus bad grade. It doesn't "judge" you, just points out features. as if someone were describing you with brown hair and eyes, 5'2 inches tall, x weight, etc. but mental instead of physical. Nothing good/bad just "facts". "Tends to choose chocolate ice cream more often than vanilla"
