thanks guys - I've been approved. The thing is it's kind of unfair. I'm eligible for a number of weeks EI based on how long I'd been working, but they start counting the weeks based on when you file, not when you start receiving benefits. So even though I'm not eligible to receive benefits until mid Dec, due to getting severence, the time still counts against my eligilble weeks. That seems unfair to me.

Plus now I have to report in every week on availability to work, which is a bit awkward since I'm IP at the moment.

This is all a new learning experience for me.
