Oh, man. My dad does this same kind of thing to me all the time. 2 thoughts on this, from the other side of the fence:
1) when my dad asks me if I hate him, I resent it because it looks like he is fishing for compliments. His insecurity is a turnoff
2) if I don't reply, he assumes it's a "yes". Nothing is more maddening than people putting words in my mouth. If your boyfriend didn't explicitly say "yes, I hate you", then it is a bad idea to assume that he does. It will drive him away, IMO.
