I'm not certain we need a separate forum for this, since it is something that would be practiced across all forums and in everything we do. We always encourage individuals to become e-patients -- empowered, education patients -- who are partners in their treatment and treatment decisions. You might also be interested in the Society for Participatory Medicine, which advocates just this model (but under different terminology):

In the meantime, as others have suggested, you might consider starting a social group and we'll see how it goes from there.
Thanks for the suggestion!

DocJohn,
It is somewhat similar but not quite the same. Seems like that Society focuses more on being empowered
patients, whereas Recovery focuses on much more than one's medical/physical needs. Recovery is an amalgamation bringing together one's spiritual beliefs, their support network and environment in which they live, hope to realize dreams and become all they were meant to be, the strength to make their own choices and have the 'right to fail', and of course that empowerment to be the expert in their own care.
I will concede that taking this one step at a time isn't a bad idea, and will work toward making a social group to start off with.
Thanks,
K
