I see how that can be a pain. I count every single step I take, in sets of eight, count everything I touch to make it even and count until I fall asleep at night. I find that when I mess up the way I count, pause longer between numbers, and count in sets of 4, that it's easier to not do it so much. It feels different to me and wrong, so I just stop. If you're in a worse situation than I am, you can try changing up the way you count, but that's all the advice I have... Best of luck to you.
