That would explain the voices and the paralysis that you are experiencing, if it is limited to the times when you are falling asleep.
Are you under more stress lately? Are you worried about more things?
Stress can do all sorts of things to our mind and body, so it is possible that the hypnagogia is enhanced or brought on by stress.
