I have an idea ...

This is a support forum, is it not? How about be supportive when posting or even better, if one can't be supportive - why post at all?

This isn't a forum to create friendships, althought several are forged here - mainly due to good and caring people. And it isn't the place to air personal likes and dislikes about others either.

I'm not the owner of this forum, nor a moderator, but this BS has gone on long enough. Apologies are due to Doc John (for this is his forum) and to every member here.

Freedom of speech? Well, I'm not sure one has that on the internet. I'm not all that sure either that this site is governed by American laws, although I suspect one could lay claim that if Doc John is an American and owns this forum it is under American laws.

Not even the United States Supreme Court is sure about how to enforce laws upon the internet I think, and therefore leave the rules and restrictions to the owners of these forums. And speaking of which, some of these are found in the FAQ's:

What's okay/not okay to post?

This is, first and foremost, a self-help support community. That means if your post isn't about offering support to another person or asking for it, it's potentially not appropriate for the forums.

Specifically prohibited from the forums:

Advertisements of any sort
Announcements of one's own Web site, new resource, or book
Announcements for research projects
Flames or messages meant to intimidate or harass others
Threatening messages
Messages containing suicidal threats or suicidal actions

The exception to this rule are the software support forums, which are meant to offer informal support for my open source software.

Let me repeat two of them: 1- Flames or messages meant to intimidate or harass others. (This would include telling another to kiss your ***) and 2 - Messages containing suicidal threats or suicidal actions.

Now, getting back to the Freedom of Speech thing. In America, one may have what is called Freedom of Speech, but again, that does not give one freedom to say anything they choose.

For example, if one were to be so stupid (yeah - that would be the right word) to threaten the President of the United States, verbally or in written form, they wouldn't be FREE very long. But if you really want to see how free you are to say whatever you like - enter a bank and announce it is a hold up, or board a plane and announce it is a hi-jacking, or eneter a police station and announce you intent to kill cops - and see how free you are.

If you are here for support and to hopefully receive help - then I hope you get it. However, honey always catched more flies than vinegar and your approach is very flawed. Posting to harass others and being hostile isn't the answer to healing.

Personally speaking - I'd rather not see such as I've seen here today. It isn't why I come, nor either, is it the reason the vast majority visit this forum.

Sam
