I have depression too, Leora, along with General Anxiety Disorder (according to the hospital) and dissociative identity disorder (my counsellor thinks). Anxiety in particular situations is something I am familiar with. I wonder if there is anyone who might be able to help you. Sometimes the smallest things can make a difference. For example, I struggle with large numbers of people and was very anxious about going to Church. Various friends from church have arranged to meet me outside just before a service so that I can go in with them. Their support enables me to cope. Is there anyone you could call on who might be able to help you get out of the house, even if it is just in the garden or to the end of the street to start with. I know how hard it is to ask, but my experience has been that people are pleased to know how they can help. I have another friend at work who, when she sees I am stressed, comes to sit with me and that helps me to be more grounded. If you have not friends locally to ask, it might be worth approaching a voluntary group - we have the Samaritans here who offer various forms of support.
I can't advise re drugs I'm afraid as I am in England and things are very different here. But I see someone has already made a suggestion that may help.
Keep posting - I am sure you will get helpful responses from many here.
Glad you found us!
