This is a sad world we live in, where 'takers' will bleed you dry. I'm beginning to wonder if there is such a thing as a 'real friend' anymore. Ideally it would be perfect to have a mix of give and take.... you scratch my back and I scratch yours. The greatest gift a person can give themselves is to say "NO" at the appropriate time. A 'people pleaser' also needs to examine why they have this need to give, even if it's too the detriment of themselves.

A few years ago, we used to have 'friends over all the time for dinner and would spend the whole summer entertaining them by the pool. Then bankruptcy hit and the friends scattered like cockroaches ...when you turn a bright light on lol. I would love to know if there are any friends who will accept people as they are, even if we aren't carrying a silver platter.
