This was my experience too. It was only really really really awful ONE time. Just one. It was hard and awful and scary and I didn't think I would make it...but then it was OVER. I still have a hard time sometimes - flashbacks, bad feelings, etc. - but it's not anything even remotely like telling my story for the first time.
It is so worth it.
