That sucks. My question would be why did the bank post checks out to you? Over here no matter what you have to go and pick them up at the bank and show your transaction card and your drivers licence or photo ID before they will give them to you.

I think it's really bad that they don't take more care with them and at least mail them out security to be picked up from the post office. This would really anger me so badly.

I understand your rant and am standing there ranting with you. The police lied to you and they should have referred you to the detectives who handle ID theft, it is at least a local offence and there are state laws covering the offence in the US, as well as here in Oz and other countries. They deserve a good walloping from their superiors.

I really wish you luck with this and push for your bank to stop posting out checks in the mail.
