I find this thread really interesting, even though I just noticed it is almost a year old! That made me wonder if "mean" or "nasty" are moods to we can choose. I checked and neither is on the list. I'm not sure what this all means. Maybe we should include "mean" and "nasty" since they apply to both men and women and not have "*****y"? A word I use to describe men when they are being *****y is "pissy." (Can be used for women as well.) Don't know if others use that, but I don't see it on the mood list either. I think the equivalent word for men would be "testy" as the root of that word is testosterone. Testy is not on the mood list either.

I personally don't really look at people's moods on PC and I never use them on my own profile. I don't like *****y people so if someone was using the *****y icon and I noticed it, it might make me want to avoid them. But that's their problem if they find themselves isolated by always being *****y, right? Just like in real life.

I also find that there are some very touchy people on PC who can indeed be mean and nasty. And they don't use any sort of identifying icon. Mean behavior occurs whether one puts a little picture on it or not.

I don't like the PMS choice. But I don't like it in real life either when people blame their behavior on their hormones. JMO. Also, if someone says they are "PMS", it doesn't really tell me what their mood is. It could mean touchy, *****y, pissy, grumpy, weepy, etc. Why not just say directly what mood you are having instead of saying "PMS"?

Interesting thread! Even though the poll is closed, I would probably have voted to not do away with the *****y icon because I am not keen on censorship.
