Hi flyingbluebird,

I am not sure what "grounding exercises" are. I do have distress tolerance exercises, and have used a variety of these MANY times.

Distress tolerance techniques that have worked for me: exercise, cooking, cleaning, walking in nature, looking at leaves, trees, pushing away impulsive ideas (and hard memories), sex, and sports. Just getting out of that intensely negative state of mind, through some thing/s that I really enjoy helps me through.

Don't know if that applies to what you were asking about ~ I hope that it helps you! Very best wishes to you!
