I agree, One category at a time. Look at clothes. Do they fit? Has anyone worn them in the past year, if not out they go. Then look, do you have 15 pairs of jeans and never need all of them, out they go. kids stuff, is it ratty or not fitting, out the window. When you are done you have a nice pile for salvation army and you can wash and hang, fold whatever is left over. Good luck.
