Greetings,

Since my medical treatment is enforced, I must check into an institution for a few weeks, when I have to switch medications, so can they be there to observe me when I wean off/on to something. My treatment team says it is mostly to make sure my side effects do wear off, since I am sure to have them, at first. Of course, they told me, people can have side effects up to a year, or more, depending how their body is use to adjusting to medication. Having said that, if your body is use to you stopping the medication whenever a side effect arises, then it is going to make it even harder the next time, for your body to adjust to any other medication it is given.

It took my anti-depressant, alone, almost a year for my body to finally accept it, and I have no doubt it was due to my extreme on and off/start and stop, compliance in my past with anti-depressants. My anti-psychotic was switched almost two years ago and even though the side effects are not nearly as bad, when I started out, I can get them, from time to time, usually around my special time of the month where my body is normally emotional, anyway. Nonetheless, I am glad I stuck with my medication, because it is truly doing wonders for me. In fact, I now know why anti-depressants are nicknamed happy pills, for mine truly life my spirit and prevent it from lowering. It is awesome.

Please, you truly need to commit to your medication to teach your body to accept it. Yes, it may mean a few months up to a year of side effects, though, they will cease. If you keep going on and off, as I mentioned above, your body is only going to become more intolerant.

I hope you can find the right medication you feel you can commit to, not to mention, find a way to diminish your drinking appetite, once and for all.

Have a good one.
