I also have rx for klonipin, .5mg as needed for panic attacks for 5 yrs. I don't take the klonipin every day, sometimes I go a whole week without it, but I do have major panic attacks and when that happens I take one. So now I read this, and I think my pdoc who I loved for the past 5 yrs is a quack. I don't know what to do now.
eileen talking with your pdoc is the best way to decide what to do. i'm a recovering alcoholic among other things. my pdoc put me on klonopin for my panic attacks and i balked. we talked about it and i continue to use it as prescribed. it does keep the panic attacks away and it also assists with my bipolar disorder...many pdocs use this because it does other stuff good too for bipolar. so speak with your pdoc. he may have a solid reasoning re your xanex altho there are less powerful benzo's out there that you could use for getting to sleep tho. hope this eases your concerns.
