I would say no that an accurate smear cannot be taken during menstruation. I say this as prior to my hysterectomy l had alot of bleeding on contact with my cervix and was told that the blood cells were obsuring the other cells. But if in doubt ring and ask whoever is taking the smear. Hope the infection gets sorted real soon
