Oats are not a good bet for being gluten free. They are often transported and processed in the same facilities as wheat is. Also it is used as a crop that is rotated, so often it is planted on land that grew wheat and so gets it in it that way. Only go with certified gluten free oats if you eat them.
I'm so sorry about you getting sick eating out. I've only eaten out a handful of times (and only once for fun) since I was diagnosed a little over a year ago because of my fear of getting ill. I'm so sorry you got sick. That really sucks.
