Hi

I am going back into therapy and have some new issues/concerns. Unfortunately I have to see a different tdoc/pdoc due to insurance coverage and I'm not sure how to approach this.

Here's the thing . . . since my son was dxd bp I joined a support group. I have had 3 different people ask me if I had ever been dx'd bp myself because they see characteristics in me that seem to indicate a mild form of it. I never considered it because my brother (who was bp) and my son both had off the chart manic behaviors (hospitalizations, arrests etc.) so I never considered it myself since I don't have that type of episode.

In learning about bi-polar in depth in an effort to better help and understand my son, I do see alot of cyclothymic (sp) symptoms in myself. I was originally dx'd with ptsd and a major depression about 8 years ago. I really want a re-evaluation but don't want to approach my new pdoc/tdoc saying "I'm bipolar" but do want them to look at it as a possibility. I don't want them to think I am trying to self-diagnose or anything, but after learning about it I felt like it all made sense.

Any suggestions on how to ensure I get the proper help I need from my new tdoc/pdoc would be greatly appreciated.
