My mum would be similar.. I love her dearly but she has the motto "move on and forget".. mainly because she is hurting when I am hurting. She hates that there is nothing that she can do to help ease the pain. Sometimes just a hug and a cuddle are all you need.. not harsh words or being told that there is "plenty of fish in the sea" type quotes.
Keep talking... What i found after Mark was that the more I talked the more I got it out of my head and away from my heart...
