 Maybe someone who is ill himself feels more comfortable with someone who is also, thinking they are understanding? I know, while I don't want (and probably can't handle) someone who is disabled, who else would want me? Maybe a guy who has a need to care for another (not necessarily healthily) looks for someone to shower with attention? Gut instincts can usually be right, except if someone has a disorder that increases vigilance etc.
