What a good friend you are. I agree that any guilt you're experiencing is probably unfounded. And, yes, many times medication can cause what she's experiencing. I hope she's not been misdiagnosed and is being medicated for that, rather than being understood at DID. Some doctors who don't "believe in" DID will medicate to "prove" it because the medication removes/curbs/silences (who really knows?) the others.
But, I'm more concerned about you. I wonder why you feel at fault? Do you sense that maybe a conversation you had could have triggered her response? Of course, I stand by your knowledge that it isn't your doing. Even if you had talked, this would have been her system's response, and not your doing. 
Now tell yourself you're doing good ... and that your friend will get through this too.
