Hmm are they colorful, or grays and blacks? "Floaters" are bits of the vitreous gel in your eye that have broken off. This can be due to old age, but often it's from head trauma.
I had severe head trauma in '86 and thus am closely watched by a neuro opthalmologist because if any floater begins to attach itself to the retina, I could go blind in that eye. This phenomena, I am told, is quite painful though. But I have my neuro's phone number in case it occurs at any time.
My floaters have been so bad that I have to pull off to the side of the road when driving. It doesn't do any good to shake your head to make them move (that's kind of like spinning a raw egg... physics.)
Please do have this checked out to see if they are floaters, and if they are enough to be concerned about. Good wishes.
