There could be a very simple reason for this ruling. I know when I am manic anything spiritual can send me completely nuts. Perhaps it is a ruling out of concern and not a discriminatory one at all?

Anyway it would be pretty difficult for them to prove you are mentally ill unless responses you gave were completely off the wall.
