Justus1228, having someone go with you on the first appointment is a good idea, even if they don't talk to the doctor.

On my first appointment I took my son. He drove me which was a good thing because as soon as I started talking to the doctor, I started crying hard enough that I wouldn't have been able to drive myself home.

In my opinion, I think it's always good to have moral support around.
