Interesting Point JD. There has been much suggested coorelation between lack of sufficent cross patterning : eg, not enough crawling at the correct developmental stage, and learning disabilities such as dyslexia. I have not heard about a coorelation to ADD/ADHD as well.
Many years ago, a highly esteemed music coach was here from Manhattan doing a workshop. Amongst world class musicians she coached, she would also coach some Julliard students. in other words, she really knew what she was doing. The person who brought her to my town to do the workshop asked me if she could use my piano ( and room it was in) to do private sessions. And in exchange I could take the workshop. I said of course that would be great.
After she was done for the day with the private sessions she asked me to play. I did that. Somehow the topic of dyslexia came up. She immediatly said " please get down and crawl for me". I found it interesting that she was very quick to ask me to crawl as a dx tool to see if I was in fact dyslexic. btw, I could not crawl well when she asked. Apparantly, the cross patterning had not even been established in my early 30s. But I am curious to know if the ADD is also caused from this. And if so, perhaps it can be corrected by estabilishing the cross patterning. Thanks again
