In 2007 I found out my Vitamin D level was 20, which is LOW. There is a huge normal range from 30-150. A level above 150 is considered toxic for most people. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin, so it is stored in fat rather than being excreted.

My psychiatrist at the Amen Clinic has recommended I get my Vitamin D level up to at least 70. I am up to 45, and my doctor here at home is helping me raise it higher. I am taking a 50,000 IU tablet every two weeks, and 3,200 IU in supplements every day. I do not absorb Vitamin D very well, and I do not spend 10-20 minutes in the sun every day without sunscreen.

Is there anyone who has had experience with raising your Vitamin D level and feeling an improvement of the depression symptoms? Please share if you have.

I am in the process of reading an interesting book, The Vitamin D Solution, A 3-Step Strategy to Cure Our Most Common Health Problem. It is written by Michael F. Holick, Ph.D., M.D. I read on the Internet that Dr. Holick is a "Pioneer in Vitamin D Research."

Most life guards have a Vitamin D level of 100.

Thanks,
Caramel
