I tried Citalopram recently. I had been on a mood stabiliser for several weeks. Within 1 day I was feeling really great. The next day I was hypomanic and agitated. According to my pdoc, the Citalopram had switched me. My mood stabilisers had not reached "therapeutic levels" according to that reaction. This is my 2nd recent switch reaction to SSRIs, and my pdoc wants me to avoid antidepressants, and to treat the depression with other mood stabilisers and atypical antipsychotics that have an antidepressant effect. So far so good (more or less).
