Obviously Lou and I have different views on "enlightement" as a concept. I do not believe Lou's statement to be untrue within his beliefs. Taken together my statement does appear to make a judgement on his statement and on his beliefs. I did not intend to do that, nor do I believe that my opinion is any more "valid" than anyone elses, nor do I even believe personally that Lou is "wrong", I was speaking only within the framework of my overall view of the question, and I have always believed that from another framework other statements are equally true.

The rest of Lou's statement in fact matches part of the point I was trying to make. I believe that possibly my views of this match Lou's in many ways. Or maybe I am misinterpreting and Lou believes that my views are wrong. Either way all views are presented honestly and are valid. Unfortunately I phrased my view as an "absolute" and I apologize for that.

I don't think it is appropriate to further discuss this point here, other than the fact that I wanted to make a personal apology to Lou and to express my hope that others aren't inhibited from posting on this.

I am also going to ask if one of the moderators can and will remove that sentence from my original post.
