The initial meeting is getting to know you. Your history, he'll want to make his/her own evuluation whether you are bipolar and if so which type. Within each type everyone is different. Some extremely different. Knowing your history is very important, especially for when you have a crisis.
If you have a big problem when you go for a meeting you'll want to spend all your time talking about it. It would be frustrating if your pdoc asks many questions about history when you want to focus on something else.
Some have not felt comfortable with a pdoc they've tried. It is essential that you find one that you can trust and believe will do a good job for you. It is possible you wouldn't with this one, you'll want to have one in place before a crisis hits.
