Hi jazzy,
I'd personally advise you to go with your inspiration! Beautiful works of art (music, paintings, drama, etc.) have been inspired by horrible emotional experiences. Vincent Van Gogh, Billie Holiday, Kurt Cobain, the list goes on and on with those who suffered mental illness and yet created widely loved art & music. There are several members of Psych Central who are terrific artists!!
Perhaps letting your emotions free through the creation will ease your suffering. I hope so.
Personally, I tend to write poems when I'm feeling suicidal and/or angry. I've also strongly considered writing an autobiography someday. Maybe I will. I wouldn't let my emotions get in the way of creating ~ I would simply use those emotions to get my point across more strongly.

Best wishes to you!
