you could consider this a learning exercise of how to deal with people you are uncomfortable around.
micromanagers used to drive me crazy. they disrupted my work and efficiency. BUT i'd give this person a little time to "save" him/herself while getting used to the new position. try to not engage in coversation at work that is negative about this person. it will only impact you further....if all else fails, then consider a lateral move at work as an option.
