Thank you! I am well over the drinking age, so I will add whiskey to my shopping list. i was wondering when I should go back to the dr, I'll split the difference and give her a call on Wednesday if my glands are still huge. It's not really the sore throat that bothers me, its the lymphodenapthy. I can't even turn my head! thank you for your help, wise kitty!

1. It's probably time to call the doctor about the antibiotics not working.
2. Home remedies: If you are over the legal drinking age in your country: 1 shot of whisky, a squirt of lemon juice, honey to taste, in a mug of hot water. The whiskey numbs your throat while lemon and honey are natural germ fighters...warm water feels good and helps keep you hydrated. If you're not over the legal drinking age or don't drink make it without the whiskey.
Chicken noodle soup or even just drinking chicken broth are also good.
Take some ibuprofen (if you're allowed - check drug interactions) for the pain..and rest.
You can also try one of the numbing throat sprays. Slippery elm lozenges (from a health food store) and zinc lozenges help too.
3. If you've been on antibiotics for more than 5 days with no results you have to go back to the doctor, the strain you have may be resistant to that antibiotic. I always ask for a shot because the medicine gets into your system faster and makes you better faster.
Sorry, that turned out longer than I meant it to... just wanted to give you options. You're welcome to PM me if you want more/different ones.
